Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Lifebrain, the Viennese PCR-COVID-19-laboratory, has registered 500 employees for notice of termination with the public employment service early warning system. As the last remaining COVID-19 saftey measures will be withdrawn from February 28 until the end of June, the company has to plan significant stuff reductions. Spokesman of Lifebrain announced, that the reduction is currently being planned with foresight and consideration for the employees. The future of the company and the necessity of COVID-19 tests is yet unclear, which is why Lifebrain prepares for several scenarios, including cutting 500 of 600 jobs from February 28.
