Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The UK-based low-cost airline EasyJet has opened a new maintenance hangar at Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) and thus, created 100 new jobs at the capital’s airport. According to the company, four aircraft fit the new 10,000 square meter maintenance hangar which cost around €20 million euros to build. The new workplace will be created for, and EasyJet will recruit, maintenance engineers as well as technical staff.
The construction of the hangar started in September 2021 and took 15 months to complete construction.
A previous restructuring event was recorded for EasyJet in 2022, with job layoffs of up to 275 employees in Berlin, Germany (Easyjet-2022-DE).
