Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Kährs, a Swedish flooring manufacturer and distributor, has initiated cooperation negotiations to make 100 employees redundant in Nybro, Sweden. The company plans to dismiss 95 blue-collar and 5 white-collar employees. In addition to the restructuring in Sweden, the company plans to reduce an additional 75 staff across Europe.
According to the company's press release, the redundancies are due to a reduction in demand for both renovation and new construction. Rising interest rates and high inflation are contributing to the fall in demand.
Kährs employs 1,475 people in 17 countries. The company delivers its flooring solutions to more than 70 countries out of which the Nordics, South & West Europe, the US and Russia are their key markets.
