Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
As announced on 14 December 2022, the German optics group Zeiss plans to add 2000 new jobs in Germany within its current fiscal year. According to CEO Lamprecht, Zeiss has currently 3,000 open vacancies around the world. Zeiss’s booming semiconductor business has been contributing to the continued expansion of the company. Together with its partners, the laser specialist Trumpf and the Dutch machine manufacturer ASML, Zeiss equips chip factories with the very latest lithography systems. Zeiss is specifically looking for technical expertise and intends to increase its number of apprentices.
