European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Lumentum, the US manufacturer of optical and photonic products for optical networking and laser applications, has opened a new production unit and created over 100 jobs.
It is Lamentum's second production unit in the Slovenian town of Škofljica, but the company is already planning further development. The construction of a third building nearby will facilitate the expansion of production capacity; a new centre will develop laser components other than optical fibres to be manufactured in Škofljica.
Most of the company's production is sent to Lamentum in Thailand, where the assembled lasers are sold to Amada, a Japanese manufacturer of cutting and metal-making machines.
Currently, the company employs 57 workers.
