Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Low-cost airline Ryanair is to recruit 150 new employees based at the Ryanair Labs headquarters in Swords, Dublin. The airline is beginning the recruitment of these jobs with a recruitment campaign open evening on 1 December 2022. The new roles are technical roles including software development, business intelligence, security, infrastructure and operations, project planning and delivery, and quality assurance engineers. The airline said these new hires will help the company to deliver "cutting edge projects" as Ryanair hopes to grow to carry 225 million passengers by 2026.
During 2022, previous business expansions have been recorded in the ERM datatbase. See the company's expansion in Ireland of 2,000 employees (Ryanair-2022-IE), including 200 new jobs in Shannon, County Clare (Ryanair-2022a-IE) and 150 new employees at Dublin airport (Ryanair-2022b-IE). In the same year, Ryanair has also expanded airport staff by 600 in Austria (Ryanair-2022-AT) as well as by 600 in Wroclaw airport (Ryanair-2022-PL) and 400 new roles at Krakow airport (Ryanair-2022a-PL), Poland.
