Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
As confirmed on 22 November 2022, the Polish branch of the German fish processing company Friedrichs, will be closing its factory in Doble by the end of December 2022 which will result in the loss of 190 jobs. Friedrichs Polska is closing its entire enterprise, as the Doble factory was the only one in Poland. The employee contracts will be terminated on 31 December 2022. The managing director of the Dobel factory announced that the company will not provide any additional support for the employees, besides the support mandated by the labour regulations. In mid-2021, the company employed 370 people in Europe.
