Description
On November 10th, the Danish manufacturer of windows, VELUX, announced the planned dismissal of up to 200 people in its Gniezno production plants. Additionally, layoffs will affect 120 people in the Namyslow plant. Lower demand and the need to cut production were the reasons for the dismissals. The exact terms of the job reduction process are being negotiated with trade unions. The move comes two months after a 4-day working week was introduced in the Gniezno and Namyslow plants to avoid dismissals.
The company operates two production plants in Gniezno, employing over 1000 people. A previous employment restructuring in Poland took place in 2012, when VELUX expanded in Namysłów (VELUX-2012-PL).
