Description

Roca Croatia, the owner of Inker, manufacturer of sanitary ceramics, unexpectedly informed the workers' council of its intention to completely shut down production. The main reason behind the announcement is an untenable increase in energy prices which caused an increase of costs and the loss of profitability. Roca intends to dismiss 215 permanent workers in the immediate future, while 35 workers will remain in their jobs, most of them in the distribution of goods - warehouses, commerce and logistics.

The sectoral Autonomous Trade Union of Workers in the Power Industry, Chemistry and Non-Metal Industry of Croatia has communicated with Management in the hope that it may reverse its decision, and informed the Mayor of Zaprešić as well as the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development. There is concern from the Union that the majority will find it difficult to enter new employment due to a lack of transferable skills.

Inker has been operating since 1953 and has been the largest sanitary ceramics producer of the region.
