Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
German engineering company Bosch is planning to invest €6.5 million in the production of electric bicycles (e-bikes) and will recruit 351 people by April 2023. Among those 351 workers in Ovar: 300 will be for the production team, 30 technicians and engineers and 21 workers for Research and Development (R&D) in Ovar. Still in 2022, 11 professionals will be recruited in Braga. The new workers will integrate different areas, notably software engineering and development, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering and UX/UI Design.
This new team will be dedicated to the development of remote controls, displays (touch screens) and other connectable devices that support the management and control of an electric bicycle. It will also be responsible for some high-precision assembly and control processes.
In Portugal, Bosch operates three units in North Portugal - Braga, Ovar, and in Aveiro - directly employing almost six thousand jobs.
