Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Aldi, the German discount supermarket chain, is looking to hire more than 1,000 workers in Spain before the end of December 2022. These hundreds of new recruits will be added to the nearly 6,500 jobs that the supermarket chain recorded in Spain at the end of August 2022. The multinational company plans to increase its workforce by 16%, which means closing 2022 with more than 7,500 employees spread across the length and breadth of the country. By autonomous region, Catalonia is the region that will record the highest number of new recruits during the last four months of the year, with a forecast of 32% between profiles for shops and central offices. It is closely followed by Madrid, the central and northern regions, where 29% of new hires will be made, and Andalusia, with 25% of new jobs. This company, a leader in the food distribution sector, points out that this significant volume of recruitment is evidence of its strong growth in the country, thanks to an ambitious expansion plan.
