Description

Announced on 13 October 2022, the German steel company ThyssenKrupp will be recruiting 100 new employees at its new plant in Dortmund.

The expansion is a result of ThyssenKrupps' investment of €250 million in a new fire coating plant. The plant was intended to be opened in 2021, however, due to the pandemic and disrupted supply chains, the opening was postponed to 2022. ThyssenKrupp intends to manufacture 600,000 tons of hot-dip galvanised flat steel per year at the new plant.

Currently, ThyssenKrupp employs 1,300 people in Dortmund. Overall, the company has 10 hot-dip coating plants, including two in Dortmund, two in Sirgerland, four in Duisburg, one in Bochum and one in Spain.

Previous factsheets were recorded in the ERM database in 2020, with an announced job reduction of 6000 employees (ThyssenKrupp-2020-DE),  and a related job reduction of 385 employees (ThyssenKrupp-2020a-DE).
