Description

Chimcomplex, a Romanian producer and seller of inorganic and organic chemicals announced its intention to dismiss 396 employees by the end of 2022. Chimcomplex is the region's leading producer and supplier of vital chemicals, specializing in polyols, chlorinated alcohols and oxo-alcohols. It is a strategic company for the Romanian economy, with two industrial platforms, in Onesti (Borzesti, Bacau County) and Ramnicu Valcea (Valcea County).

The redundancy is due to increasing electricity and gas prices. In this context, the company aims to optimize operational and operating costs and to streamline its activity in order to make improve the use of human and financial resources. Moreover, a second reason for the redundancy is the merger between the industrial platforms in Ramnicu Valcea (Valcea County) and Onesti (Bacau County).

Previously, the company announced its intention to protect employees from redundancies, if the energy prices stay stable and recover. However as of September 2022, this is not the case. Along with this measure, Chimcomplex has also closed several production sections.

By 30 June 2022, Chimcomplex had 1,936 employees.
