Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The management of AstraZeneca has confirmed the forthcoming closure of its site at Reims (Marne). All the 120 employees will be affected by the decision. The pharmaceutical group is looking for a suitable buyer and promises to support the 120 employees during this transition period. The group has presented to staff representatives a project to sell its operational packaging and distribution activities at the Reims site by the end of 2024. The plant, which packages and distributes medicines, will be no longer part of AstraZeneca's plans and projects. The reason behind the decision is the loss of a patent on an anti-diabetic mainly packaged at this site. The decision was denounced by the unions.
