The German supermarket chain Lidl has invested €60 million to strengthen its points of sale in six autonomous communities in Spain. In particular, it will open nine establishments in different areas of the country by the end of September, and will create 200 new jobs.
At the end of 2022, Lidl will have opened 30 supermarkets, including the nine new ones, and will have created a total of 760 new jobs in the year.
The company has an ambitious plan for national expansion between 2021 and 2024: it aims at investing €1,5 million and opening 150 new shops.
Currently, Lidl employs 15,400 in Spain.
Previous business expansion were recorded in the ERM database in 2020, with 130 jobs created (Lidl-2020-ES), and in 2019, with 130 jobs created (Lidl-2019-ES).
