American drug manufacturer MSD Ireland will create 100 new jobs in Carlow in order to strengthen its manufacturing capabilities to meet increased global demand for its medicines and vaccines. The hiring will start immediately, and a new manufacturing facility will also be created by 2025. The new roles will include quality, operations, engineering, supply chain and technical support. The reason behind the recruitment is to expand production of modern biologics drugs for the treatment of cancers.
Currently, the MSD Carlow site employs 530 people. The company employs a total of 2,800 workers in Ireland across six sites in Tipperary, Cork, Meath, Carlow and Dublin.
