The German e-scooter provider Tier has announced plans to dismiss 180 people across 20 different countries, among which Germany and Austria. Most of the jobs affected are based in Berlin. The company needs to cut costs because it is in financial troubles and has to stop its expansion strategy. The difficulties stem from investors' reluctance to invest in start-ups in this difficult historical moment, due to high inflation and the energy disruption caused by the war in Ukraine.
The dismissals account for the 16 per cent of the global workforce (1,125 people).
