Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The pipe manufacturer Saint Gobain PAM, based in Lorraine at Pont-à-Mousson (Meurthe-et-Moselle) has announced a plan to recruit 130 employees on permanent contracts in France. 95% of them will be for its production sites and research centre located in Meurthe-et-Moselle (Toul, Foug, Blénod-lès-Pont-à-Mousson and Pont-à-Mousson). The management wishes to hire these employees as soon as possible. The recruitments mainly concern production and maintenance positions. After several difficult years, St Gobain PAM is experiencing new growth linked to climate change and the need for local authorities to renew their ageing water networks.
