Description
The Hungarian subsidiary of Romania-based e-commerce firm eMag, eMAG Extreme Digital builds a new logistical centre in Dunaharaszti. The centre will start operating in September 2022, creating 350 new jobs in the first round, with the possibility of further workforce expansion later up to 600 workers. The development is part of a large-scale regional-level expansion programme that focuses on international logistics.
In Hungary, e-commerce has been expanding fast, but the share of online purchases within retail trade is still relatively low, making room for further development. The new centre will serve the expanding network of automatic parcel machines. The investment cost is about €90 million, 14% of which will be covered by government subsidy.
This will be the firm's first own logistical centre outside Romania. In 2019, eMag acquired the Hungarian e-commerce firm Extreme Digital, creating a merged Hungarian subsidiary.
