Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
German discount retailer Lidl is to create 200 new jobs in different regions of Lithuania by March 2023. The majority of the new staff will be employed in Lidl stores, while the rest will work at the logistics centre and in administration. The company is rapidly expanding in Lithuania: over the last three years, more than 700 employees have joined the Lidl Lietuva team. Currently Lidl Lietuva employs 2,822 employees. For four years in a row, Lidl Lietuva has won the certificates of Top Employer Lithuania and Top Employer Europe, which are awarded to companies offering exceptionally good working conditions for their employees.
Lidl is a German retailer offering food and non-food products. The company owes around 11,200 stores in 29 countries. Lidl started its operations in Lithuania in 2016 and currently owes 63 stores in 24 cities in Lithuania.
Previous business expansions were recorded in the ERM database early in March 2022, with 150 jobs created (Lidl Lietuva- 2022- LT) and in 2021, with 180 new jobs (Lidl Lietuva-2021-LT).
