Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The German manufacturer of auto vehicle components, Continental Romania, has announced its intention to hire 1,000 people in 2022. The new jobs will be created at the new R&D centre in Timisoara (Timis County). The company invested €33 million in its R&D centre which is equipped with a testing and validation area for all products developed by the company.
Between 1999 and 2021 Continental invested more than €2 billion in its Romanian operations. Continental has six production facilities and four engineering centres in Timisoara (Timis County), Sibiu (Sibiu County), Carei (Satu Mare County), Nădab (Arad County) and Iași (Iasi County).
The company also owns a tire distribution centre in Bucharest. At the end of 2021, Continental had more than 17,500 employees, of which more than a third were engineers and computer scientists.
