Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Paper and cardboard manufacturing group International Paper has announced investments in two of its French subsidiaries, and the creation of 50 jobs. The job creations concern the site of Emballage Laurent, at Chalon-sur-Saône (Saône-et-Loire), which has 230 employees. At this site, the group is investing €13 million to meet the increasing demand for cardboard packaging for e-commerce, and the increasing demand related to the ban on plastic packaging for unprocessed fresh fruit and vegetables since January 2022. The company aims to increase production capacity by 50% from the current 900,000 cartons per day. For this site, 25 recruitments are planned. Other 25 recruitments are planned at the Société Normande de Carton Ondulé in Saint-Langis-les-Mortagne (Orne), which has 115 employees. This site will benefit from an investment of €10 million. The company is looking for different profiles. Internation Paper employs 345 people at the two sites.
