Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The commercial vehicle manufacturer Sovab, a subsidiary of the Renault group, has announced the recruitment of 100 employees on permanent employment contracts from June at its site located at Batilly (Meurthe-et-Moselle). The company is facing a full order book for the 'Renault Master' commercial vehicle. Sovab is looking for various profiles: technicians, roboticists, logisticians, quality controllers, etc. Temporary workers will be part of the priority recruitment pool due to their skills and knowledge of production processes. Sovab has received confirmation of the award of producing the successor to the Renault Master, which will be launched in 2024. According to the management, the hirings and the fact that the Master's replacement has been allocated will ensure that the Batilly activity will continue for the next 15 years.
Sovab has currently 1805 permanent employees and between 600 and 700 temporary workers.
A former restructuring announcement has been recorded in the ERM Database, with 313 job cuts announced in 2012 (Sovab-2012-FR).
