Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The food producer Orkla Group plans to start the production of cookies, biscuits and wafers in Latvia, Ādaži. Orkla Biscuit Production has built a new plant of more than 30,000 m2 with 13 production lines and plans to employ up to 300 people.
The first 50 employees have been in Sweden for training - to learn recipes and the production process.
Construction of the plant began in November 2020 and is scheduled to be operational by the end of this year. In turn, it is planned to complete the entire project by 2023, so that the plant can operate at full capacity. Consequently, the production of biscuits and waffles from Sweden and Riga will be moved to Ādaži.
Orkla Biscuit Production is a production company of the Orkla Group in Latvia. 80% of the biscuits and waffles produced in Latvia will be produced for other Orkla Group companies in the Nordic countries (Sweden, Norway, Finland, Estonia and also Latvia). The new plant will make at least 10 different brands of cookies and waffles.
