Description
The British company Easyjet, the second-biggest provider of low-budget flights in Europe, has announced it would lay-off of up to 275 of its 800 employees at the Berlin airport (BER) in Germany. The company wants to reduce its Berlin-based airfleet from 18 to 11 airplanes due to rising airport fees and a worse than expected recovery after the Covid-19 crisis. In addition, the company is relocating some of its aircraft to other locations such as Malaga, Faro, and Palma de Mallorca.
While Easyjet announced it would now start talks with employees' representatives, the announcement was made amidst collective bargaining disputes with the United Public Services Union (Verdi) which has announced warning strikes.
