Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
At the end of May 2022, Buff, a Catalan sports clothing and accessories company, announced its intention to expand its team at the Igualada plant (Barcelona region) by hiring 140 garment professionals. Specifically, 70 employees will be hired by the end of 2022, and the other 70 employees in 2023. The company has decided to expand the production area of the Igualada plant because it wants to increase production, and also to progressively carry out internally the small part of the production that is still carried out outside its facilities.
The new profiles to be recruited must be able to manufacture various fabrics (lycra, polyester, polar, etc.), with flat and overlock machines, coating or flatlock, as well as being available to work in different shifts.
