Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
French household appliance manufacturer Daan Tech plans to triple its workforce by 2024 by recruiting 100 employees. The company met success with the design of the Made in France mini dishwasher "Bob"- in 2021 35,000 units were sold. It wants to repeat this success with "Joe the oven", a multifunctional mini oven (microwave, oven, grill, steam and air fries) that could replace all appliances for a price below €500. The company has its main factory in Cugand (2,600 square meters) in the Vendée department, where the production line for the mini dishwasher is located, and it is going to build a new 5,000 square meters factory in Montaigu (Vendée) by the end of 2023. The production of the oven will be in both the plants.
Daan Tech currently employs 50 people in Cugand. The young company already has a turnover of €9.6 million in 2021 and is aiming for €50 million in 2024.
