Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Ball Corporation, an American manufacturer of recyclable metal beverage and food containers, has announced to create 200 new jobs in a newly built plant in the Pilsen industrial zone. The production at the new site will start at the beginning of 2023. The investment of € 170 million is one of the largest of its kind in the Pilsen Region and throughout the Czech Republic in the last year. The plant is being built on a revitalized brownfield, its production of recyclable aluminium beverage packaging will be fully automated and will thus comply with the long-term philosophy of sustainable development. The firm has launched a large recruitment campaign since the beginning of March. New employees will undergo training courses.
In 2019, Ball Corporation received a state investment incentive of almost CZK 900 million (€ 36.5 million).
