NephroCan, a Canadian medical device manufacturer, announced 147 job cuts. The job cuts are due to the closure of NephroCan's manufacturing site in Teterow, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany, and are to be implemented by April 30th 2022.
The reason for the closure is that the covid pandemic has claimed a particularly large number of victims among chronic kidney disease patients. As a manufacturer of dialysis products, NephroCan has stated that it had to respond to the oversupply of dialysis products on the market as well as rising raw material prices by closing its production site in Teterow, Germany.
NephroCan is a Canadian dialysis company specialised in products for the treatment of End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) worldwide.
