Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The German group TUI, active in the travel and tourism business, announced it will hire 1500 new employees worldwide, 1000 of which will be hired to work in 100 travel destinations, and 500 new employees for its IT infrastructure. New jobs will be in Germany (TUI2022 - DE), Belgium, the Netherlands, Ireland, and Great Britain. TUI is to recruit new staff in all fields of its operations, including travel guides, child carers, fitness coaches, and entertainers as well as a larger number of IT workers. IT workers will be allowed to work remotely from anywhere in Europe. TUI wants to significantly expand its business again after huge losses during the COVID-19 pandemic, when it lay-off almost 8000 employees.
The German TUI group is running 1,600 travel agencies, several online portals, five airlines with around 150 aircrafts, over 400 hotels, 16 cruise ships, and destination agencies in all major holiday countries around the world.
