German Pharmaceutical company Fresenius Medical Care (FMC) has announced that it will cut 5,000 jobs worldwide. So far, the company has announced that between 500 and 750 jobs are to be cut in Germany by the end of 2024. Job cuts are part of a €500 million cost saving programme. Fresenius Medical Care has been troubled by the pandemic for a long time since many people with chronic kidney disease die of the coronavirus, which reduces the number of treatments the company performs.
Fresenius Medical Care employed over 125,000 employees worldwide in 2020. It provides products and services for dialysis, in hospitals and in outpatient medical care.
