Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Dutch online retail company Picnic will open a new distribution centre in Heerenveen next month creating 300 new jobs. Picnic recently started expanding to the north of the Netherlands by opening a small hub in nearby Leeuwarden. With the new distribution centre in Heerenveen, the company plans to expand its groceries delivery business to other places in the northern provinces of Friesland, Groningen and Drenthe from January 1st 2022.
Picnic is a rapidly growing online retail company, delivering groceries in 170 cities in the Netherlands. The company already has 5,000 employees at locations in Diemen, Eindhoven, Utrecht, Nijkerk, Rotterdam and Apeldoorn. The company also operates in Germany and plans to expand to France next year.
