Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Stellantis, the automotive manufacturer company, has cancelled its service contract with IDLogistics, transport services provider, at its Figueruelas plant (Zaragoza), affecting the 186 workers of the provider company in the plant. The company has justified its decision on financial and operational reasons, claiming that IDLogistics would not be able to meet its contractual obligations and would therefore jeopardise the continuity of vehicle production at the Zaragoza plant. The company also claims that the decision has nothing to do with the lack of microchips. The CGT union has expressed its rejection and opposition.
