Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Facebook, the US-based social media platform, is creating 10,000 new high-skilled jobs in Europe over the next five years. The recruitment process is covering Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, the Netherlands, and Ireland. So far, the company has announced the creation of 5,000 jobs in Poland over the next five years.
Europe has always been important for the success of Facebook. The business expansion is related to the creation of ‘metaverse’, an entirely digital world where people can meet and lead social and professional life using virtual reality and augmented reality. According to Facebook, metaverse is creating new social and economic opportunities. A $50 million (€42.94 million) investment programme has been launched. Facebook is to invest in technology research in Europe, including research on Artificial Intelligence in France and virtual reality and augmented reality in Ireland.
Founded in 2004, Facebook currently employs over 60,600 people worldwide.
