Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Italian branch of the German retailer Lidl announced the opening of a new logistics centre in Carmagnola (Piedmont) which will directly employ 200 workers, in addition to 100 indirect employees.
The centre will also host Lidl's Italia regional headquarters and has been also equipped with photovoltaic panels, and a system to avoid heat dispersion and for rainwater recovery.
The logistics site in Carmagnola, built in less than 17 months, is the eleventh logistics centre of the company in Italy, which currently owns over 694 shops and employs over 18,500 workers throughout the national territory.
