Description
The CEO of the public rail company SNCF has announced a job reduction of between 1.5% and 2% of the workforce, which represents between 2,000 and 3,000 job cuts. The CEO did not specify which divisions will be affected the most but said that the job cuts will be made because of the 'issue of productivity and competitiveness is general'.
The SNCF has lost €6 billion in revenue in 2020 due to the COVID-19 crisis and will have to face, from 2023, the total opening to competition of the entire national rail network, except for certain inter-city train links in the Paris region.
