Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Adient, the global automotive supplier, ends with the production in its Trim Leader plant in Kostany nad Turcom in Slovakia. The factory produces upholstery for passenger cars. The closure is attributed to insufficient utilisation of existing capacity in the plant and its low competitiveness. The closure will affect all 442 jobs and is planned to be conducted gradually till the end of September 2022. The affected employees will be supported during their job search. Around 60 new jobs will be offered to them at company's Slovak plants in Zilina and in Lucenec. The decision on closure was jointly made by the company's shareholders, which are Adient with a stake of 51% and Toyota Boshoku Europe.
A previous restructuring case TRIM Leader2020-SK involved reduction of 356 jobs.
