Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Semi-state company Bord na Móna is to create 1,435 new jobs. Bord na Mona is an energy and climate solutions company.
Of the 1,435 jobs, 550 have already been recruited over the past 18 months as the company has moved from peat extraction to wind and solar energy, recycling and carbon storage. The company will create a further 885 new jobs over the next five years.
The majority (1,100) of the 1,435 jobs are being generated directly by Bord na Móna operations and 335 will be from partnerships with third party companies.
Bord na Móna currently employs approximately 1,500 people. This follows a cost-cutting and restructuring exercise in 2018, which saw headcount decline by between 400 and 500 people.
For previous restructuring cases of Bord na Móna, see Bord na Móna-IE-2009 and Bord na Móna-IE-2005.
