Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Webhelp, the Paris-based multinational customer service company, has announced an employment adjustment plan in Spain that will affect 501 workers out of a workforce of more than 5,000. Most of affected employees (400) are located in Barcelona offices.
The company claims that the plan is necessary to adjust the workforce to the projects it is working on, although it will try to relocate as many of the affected employees as possible before the end of the year.
The company, founded in 2020, closed that year with revenues of more than €1.6 billion. Its clients include Vodafone, Valentino and La Redoute.
