Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Irish low-cost fashion retailer Primark announced that it plans to expand its activities and increase its workforce by more than 3,000 jobs across Europe in 2021-2022, including Italy, the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, and Spain.
In Italy, the chain is to open eight new store and hire more than 2,000 people by the end of 2022. In Poland, the company announced that it will create 230 jobs at its second store in the country, and another two units are expected to be launched in 2022. In Spain, the company is to open seven new shops and hire about 650 people. In the Czech Republic, Primark will create 300 jobs at its shop in Prague, and two other stores are expected to be launched in 2022. The company is also planning to invest in Slovakia, where it has recently concluded a lease agreement for the opening of the first local store. The new stores in the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia are part of company’s expansion in Central and Eastern Europe.
