Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Company MT Aerospace announced its plans to cut around 100 jobs in its airspace production by the end of 2022. The company employs in total around 500 technicians for the Ariane 6 spaceship production. As the Ariane 6 launch is delayed due to technical issues as well as because of the COVID-19 pandemic, MT Aerospace expects low production figures at least until 2025. Around half of the jobs are to be shed by natural fluctuation and early retirement. For the other half, the company needs to negotiate a social plan and realise jobs cuts due to operational reasons.
