Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Lithuanian company Saugos paslaugos providing security services to Lithuanian Railways is to dismiss 315 employees in Vilnius. Such information was provided by the Lithuanian Employment Service. The company has already handed out layoff notices to 315 employees.
Saugos paslaugos will dissmiss the employees since it has lost a tender for security services which was announced by the Lithuanian Railways. According to the Lithuanian Railways, the security services from now on will be provided by another company that has won the tender.
According to the management, all employees will receive the benefits which they are entitled to; furthermore, some redundant employees might be employed in the company who has won the tender.
Saugos paslaugos is a company providing security, maintenance, repair and building management services to the Lithuanian Railways. The company was established in June 2019 after the reorganisation of Gelsauga company. Currently Saugos paslaugos employs 342 employees. The Lithuanian Railways is currently the sole shareholder of Saugos paslaugos.
