Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Paloma, a manufacturer of hygienic paper products (like toilet paper, kitchen towels, napkins, tissues) and market leader in South-East Europe, plans to employ 50 workers. The company has recently opened a new production line of paper worth €41 million. The investment will raise the production capacity from 72000 to 90000 tons of paper a year. The owner, the Slovak company Eco Investment, is considering expanding the production for two more production lines. Investments in machinery not only bring new employments but guarantee job security to 500 Paloma’s workers.
