Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
British multinational packaging company DS Smith has announced that it will create over 200 jobs at its production facility in Bełchatów. The company is to invest about PLN 250 million (€55.87 million) in the cardboard packaging factory which is expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2022. The factory, consisting of 37,000 square meters, will be located in the Łódź Special Economic Zone, and the recruitment process has been initiated. The company is looking for machine operators, engineers, maintenance specialists, business development and sale specialists. The company will provide special training for new employees.
Headquartered in London, the company was founded in 1940; the company manufactures packaging, including corrugated packaging, plastic packaging and recycled paper. DS Smith has its production sites in 34 countries and employs nearly 30,000 people worldwide. In Poland, the company has 4 factories located in Kielce, Oława, Kutno and Kwidzyn as well as 5 logistics centres in Warsawa, Łódź, Kraków, Poznań, Wrocław and Czeladź. DS Smith employs over 1,300 people across the country.
