The management of the Prague City Hall has announced that they will dismiss 10% of their total employees. The redundancies have already begun, with 7% of the total staff to be dismissed by the end of 2021, and the remaining staff to be laid off in the following year. In total, about 230 employees will be affected by the redundancy plan.
According to the mayor of Prague, Zdeněk Hřib, the aim is to save city's operating costs by digitising common agendas and streamlining the processes at the office. The mayor added that the city budget has been greatly reduced, including 7 billion crowns (€ 275 million) due to the COVID-19 pandemic and another 2.5 billion crowns (€ 98 million) due to state-approved tax adjustments.
