Description
Local Government in Łódź (Urząd Miast Łodzi) has announced that it will cut up to 200 jobs in the education sector in the city by the end of August 2021. A collective dismissal program is to affect mainly non-teaching staff, including administration staff, janitors and cleaners in the schools. Initially, the programme was intended to cut 500 positions; currrently the local government is still negotiating the scale of the dismissals with the local trade unions. Local authorities claim that the programme is related to the necessity for public expenditure cuts as educational subsidies from the government are insufficient.
