Italian freight transport group SMET announced a business expansion consisting in 200 new jobs created in 2021.
The major increase in staff announced by the company is connected to the rapid increase in 'intermodal' freight transport foreseen for 2021. Intermodality is pursued with the double goal of reducing the spread of COVID-19 and CO2 emissions. For these reasons, intermodal transport is also supported by the 'Recovery and resilience plan' developed by the Italian government in order to deploy EU funds.
Together with the creation of jobs, the company is also planning to expand its vehicle fleet through the acquisition of 1,000 additional trailers.
Smet is an Italian group active for over 70 years in the transport and logistics sector. The company, which has its main offices in Lazio and Campania, operates through numerous branches, of which 20 are in Italy and 14 in Europe.
