Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Italian management of the US-based fast food giant McDonald's announced that 1,400 new workers are to be hired in Italy, as 35 new restaurants will be open in 2021.
According to the plan presented by the company, recruitment will predominantly involve young people and women, who already represent 62% of the company's staff.
In the year of the COVID-19 pandemic, McDonald's Italy recorded a positive sign in turnover, despite the difficult economic situation experienced by the food sector.
In order to manage re-opening of restaurants, McDonald's developed its own 'anti-COVID-19' protocol, which has also been validated by the National Institute of Infectious Diseases 'Lazzaro Spallanzani' in Rome.
