Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Poczta Polska, the Polish national postal operator, has announced that it plans to hire 270 additional employees at its sorting office in Warsaw in 2021. The applications can be submitted until the end of April 2021. The programme is related to the new EU’s customs and tax regulations for shipments from outside the EU which will come into force on 1 July 2021. In Poland, Poczta Polska will be responsible for the process of filing electronic customs import declarations. Poczta Polska is to provide special training for new staff.
As of December 2020, Poczta Polska employed about 78,000 people across the country. Previous restructuring programmes announced in recent years: February 2019 (120 jobs created), June 2019 (190 jobs created), August 2019 (360 jobs created), January 2020 (700 jobs cut), October 2020 (3,500 jobs cut) and January 2021 (2,000 jobs cut).
