Intel will create 1,600 new jobs over 3 years at its manufacturing campus in Kildare. Construction of a new fabrication plant has been ongoing for the past two years and is due to be completed by 2024. This will more than double the manufacturing space at its Irish operation as part of a global plan to accelerate its chipmaking capabilities. The jobs will be largely technical roles such as engineering and technicans.
Intel currently employs 5,000 people in Ireland, with 4,500 working at the Kildare plant.
